About Mark

Mark Edward Drew was born in Washington D.C. on January 1, 1959. An aspiring sculptor and amateur violinist since grammar school, he has always been driven to a wide array of creative pursuits.

During the last 22 years, Mark has galvanized his reputation as an expert in decorative arts treatments through his masterful application of wall glazes, gilding, murals and the faux arts including faux bois, faux pierre and trompe l'oeil.
He is also trained in historic preservation, including the restoration of antique, painted and decorated surfaces. Mark was recently part of the team that restored the 'parlor bedchamber' in Portsmouth, N.H.’s historic Warner House where smalt (ground cobalt glass) was used to create the luminous blue treatments for the walls. In the 1990s, Mark began sculpting original art dolls, working with a Maine chemist to develop a nontoxic high-detail resin casting system. This led to his work in reproducing small scale sculptures. As a result of this project he was commissioned by the LaNapoule Art Foundation to travel to the south of France to create molds from the original sculptures of Henry Clews at the Chateau de LaNapoule.

When not on location, Mark works from his studio in Cape Neddick, Maine.
